[Discussion] Height of bounties
« on: April 10, 2014, 12:39:10 pm »
We already discussed this topic a lot, both internally and on bct. Currently we feel like the bounty for helping out with useful things is too low, especially compared to the node bounty. That one was raised from 333 to 666 NHZ/day after some discussion on bct.

A small DO VPS costs 5$. If you invest 10$ you get 40k in one month. Setup doesn't take too long (also because of the guides) , and after having the first one up it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to get one more.

Writing a good post or creating a guide easily takes one hour of time, probably more. Plus, it's of great value for the community to get people with those skills involved. Everyone here should be interested in good instructions and marketing, because it will raise interest, dispersion, and thus the value for all of us. And don't forget, a guide/post will be useful for a long time, a node is gone after the bounty was paid out.

Our calculation was the following: getting 10k for 5$ means if we give out 50k for one hour of work that's an hourly rate of about 25$. Add 10 minutes a month for maintaining the node, the rate for other work is ~30$/hour.
After doubling the node bounty, this is down to 15$/hour now, which is too low imo.

A question for the ones who received bounties already: how long did it take you, and did you consider the amount appropriate?

We want to discuss this with the community, should we double the other bounties too?

Very good and fair discussion.

I am a translator of Hallmark Guide to Russian. And I confirm that it takes a lot of time. It is understood by only those who are engaged in professional translation. For my part, I declare that: I have done professional translation. And Russian participants can easily confirm this. Translation took about 3 hours.

Should you double my bounties too? I do not know. It is necessary to solve together with the other participants.

Also, I think you need to increase salaries for those who involved in active advertising on other forums (without spamming, of course). For example, a monthly payment for their work, depending on their activity during the month.

I think in this case will be more stakeholders.

There was a loud and long discussion about bounties on BCT and yet, the interest seems to be quite low here. What's wrong? Are the bounties ok? Are they too low? Too high maybe? How high/low should they be?
I'm currently looking for a job. I will code Ruby and Perl for BTC or NHZ and can also do all kinds of Linux server administration tasks, including hardened/tightened security setups. Please contact me if you have anything you need to be done.

Hight is okay for me now...once nhz begins to trade, this issue may become a much hotter debate.

666 nhz/day is enough incentive to "get in the game" and set up a node...which is the point.

Once price point is set, we should consider revisiting bounty hight.

It is not about the costs,it is about the time.Think about C2 and FAC,they are free,no costs.Just a few days to give away all.
The bounties is too low.
The bounties can be reduced gradually along with the time, like the mining.
What about 6666 nhz/day for the node bounty, and the monthly decrease 10%.

6666 is in a month 200k.  :(" title="Angry" class="smiley"/>  with 250 nodes = 50 millions = 5% of all

FAC just use one week to give away all.

IMO the point of the bounty is to sustain the network...great idea. Why be another dump coin?

We do not want to discuss the node bounties here, but the others in relation to it.

The node bounties will stay at the current level for a while. Our target time for distribution is 2-3 years, there's enough time to adapt them if it takes too long.

NHZ is a POS coin, most of the NHZ belongs to a person, investors will worry about being dumped.
